First Aid at Work Requalification
12hr requalification courses for First Aid at Work.
These courses are specifically for those that need to renew their First Aid at Work certificate. The requalification course can be completed by anyone who holds an in-date and valid First Aid at Work certificate.
Please note that you can still renew your certificate upto 28 days after the expiry of your certificate however we would recommend booking a course sooner to ensure you re-qualify before your certificate expires.
New Blended Learning Course Programme
We are pleased to anounce that we now offer our First Aid at Work Requalification as a blended learning course in partnership with eLearn Here. This is a combination of an e-learning module and a 1-day practical training course. The e-learning module is completed online prior to the practical session and is equivalent to 50% of the course (6hrs) and the remaining 50% of the course is completed as 6hr practical session.
Course content
Comprehensive first aid training that covers the essential skills required to assess & treat a casualty who is bleeding, unconscious or stopped breathing. This also includes the range of first aid skills needed in the work environment to stabilise a casualty and ‘hold the fort’ until paramedic help arrives.
- Approaching and assessing a casualty (D.R. + A.B.C.)
Performing a primary survey & stabilising a casualty that has collapsed & unresponsive
- Secondary Survey (C.D.E.)
Assessing a casualty for further injuries, illnesses & vital information
- Medical Emergencies
Treating life threatening conditions including choking, strokes & heart attack
- Basic Life Support
Performing CPR, preventing cross infection & using a defibrillator
- Managing severe bleeding
Treating a person who is bleeding, wounded &/or suffering from shock
- Break & strains
Finding, treating & stabilising common fractures & soft tissue injuries
- Trauma injuries
Stabilising head, neck & chest injuries
- Hot & cold problems
Recognising and preventing injuries from burns, heat illness & hypothermia
- Common illnesses
Treating medical disorders such as asthma, epilepsy, anaphylaxis, diabetes & angina
- Managing other workplace injuries
Poisoning, foreign bodies & eye injuries
- Equipment & record keeping
Reviewing the contents of a first aid kit, monitoring a casualty & handover to the emergency services
- Current regulations
FAW legislation & reporting injuries / illnesses to HSE (RIDDOR)
- First Aid at Work Assessment
Completion of a multiple-choice question paper
This course includes a QNUK Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) qualification valid for three years and is certificated by the Qualifications Network .
